The
Heritage Trail of Madison has been granted this wonderful Overton bridge from Mr. Jim
Barker with Barker Engineering in Washington County Indiana. The bridge is now
stored at local rock quarry in Jefferson County ,Indiana. Once the
engineering and money is raised, this bridge will be constructed on trail
site.

Washington County replaced this bridge in
2002. Barker Engineering purchased the structure to prevent it from being cut
up for scrap. Sub sequent research discovered that it was built in 1885 by the
King Bridge Company. The pictures below show the original plaque
that was placed on top of bridge.
